Even in the medieval times, the need to develop a safe longsword simulator arose, which bought the historical practice sword or Feder to life. The archaic Feder resembles a longsword only crudely, but the handling characteristics are almost the same, while it is flexible, unsharpened, has no piercing tip and protects the fingers with the so-called shield. As it wasn't considered real weapon in medieval law, citizens were allowed to keep and use it.
According to Wassmanssdorf (in the end of the 19. century), the original name for this tool was Paratschwert (parade sword) and the name "feder" was given by later generations. As most of the fencers nowadays use the word "feder", I decided to use it as well.
I also make flexible training tools for other weapons.

We got this great video about our Tournament Feder from James, who one of our dear customers, and we would like to share it with You.

Trnava Longsword Feders

Anton Kohutovič ordered special feders to apply to the needs of group Gesellschaft Liechtenauers. These feders are relatively heavy and thick as well as historical.
Trnava feders are made with medium blades which are medium strong and slightly flexible and they have back-folded tips!
The point of balance may differ at each pieces, as we try to set it to the optimum between 6 and 10 cm depending on the size and type of the other equipements.

The pommel, the crossbar and the handle may be the following:
- Length of the blade: maximum 104 cm
- Length of the handle: 35 cm (including pommel)
